Dear Bruce,
I am writing on behalf of the Group S Racing association to request that the HPBEC consider increasing the permissible negative camber for Group S cars from 2 degrees to 3 degrees.
When most of our cars were new they ran on Michelin and Pirelli tyres that did not require negative camber. The softer tyres that we are now able to use in Group S wear rapidly on the outer edge, which is a cost burden that could be reduced with an increase in negative camber.
In our conversations you have said that you allow some freedom in excess of 2 degrees. This means that some people push the envelope while others are effectively penalised for sticking to the rules. We would prefer that there was an enforced limit although I appreciate measurement is not a precise science in this instance.
We do not believe that 3 degrees will look out of place on our cars and it would reduce tyre wear and cost. Any measurement over 3 degrees should be regarded as an infringement.
GSRA would appreciate consideration being given to this proposal.
Thank you.
